Hi everyone,
My server setup is almost complete - minus the mail server.
Up until now I have run Argosoft's Mail.Net on a Windows 2003 platform, however they advise they don't produce a Linux version, so two options remain: ditch Argosoft and try Postfix, or attempt to run Argo's within a Virtual Machine - which I already have installed.
So I amended B.I.N.D.'s D.N.S. records so my fwd.zone has
mydomain.com MX mail.mydomain.com
mail.mydomain.com A External I.P.
Then I tried to download Postfix. However, some parts would not download and reported a problem, although the basic mail send to function within Cent O.S. did appear to work, I thought being a Linux novice it maybe easier to go with the V.M. option.
I have the Host Net Adapter setup that both Cent O.S. and XP can ping to, but that is it! I have the address assigned to XP by the host set in the XP Firewall, but when trying to send mail get socket not found. For your information, I am using a Modem, so no firewall within the router to worry about, but have BOTH Firewalls within the host and guest to accept traffic on port 25.
Is it going to be more straight forward to pursue the V.M. option or try Postfix again?
Thanks in anticipation for your help.
MX records, Virtual Machine, and Postfix.
