Server Network Issue

having a server with

1gbps network connectivity,
public ip,
Ram 8gb,
everything almost.
still getting low download and upload speed over the internet, client side connectivity speed is very fine download speed upto 1mbps

SERVER NETWORK CARD INFO
Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5719 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)

TESTS DONE
tracepath to server from client, here router is client side router.

DOWNLOAD+UPLOAD SPEED IS GOOD ON SERVER
i.e. 5-6mbps etc.

Unable to determine where exactly problem lies

You've posted no useful details that could help anyone to help you. What is the hardware involved? How is it set up? What tests have you run to diagnose the problem? What do you think are "low" speeds and how do you know that's related to your machine and not to your connection or to the remote site you are accessing?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
