Want to Make router with two nic cards using centos 6.0

Post by asifahmed009 » 2015/03/25 00:31:41

I'm new on CentOS. I have a CentOS 6.5 system having 2 NIC cards. I want to setup a gateway so I can get internet from public ip over 1st nic card (eth1) and forward the network over 2nd nic card (eth2) so it can be accessible to my local network.i already tried 6 to 8 tutorial from google but no luck. Plz guide me or share some tutorial.

Thanks In Advance

Why not just buy a Ubiquiti EdgeMax Lite router for the equivalent of US$99 and get a device that's designed to be a firewall in the first place?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

I agree with Trevor.
Novices should not build routers.
There are many security issues that need to be addressed,
There are many good routers on the market starting at about $25.00 US.

If you want to use Linux as a gateway for the rest of your network, then I suggest Shorewall for the firewall package. I've tried several Linux firewalls and Shorewall has proven to be the most stable and reliable. However, you do have to take the time to understand the concepts behind it. If you want plug-and-play with a browser-based interface then look at IPCop.
