Centos 6.5 on Dell Optiplex 3020

Post by PanamintCinema » 2015/06/18 16:51:29

New system and just installed Centos 6.5. Fails to connect to internet with Powerline adapters and System > Preferences shows "Wired System p4p1. Any ideas welcome. Tried wireless but not sure how to set up.

If your install shows p4p1 then that is your ethernet connection (PCI slot 4, port 1). Sounds like you have a configuration problem - did you give it an IP address or use DHCP? Does it have a correct route set up? Are your nameservers listed correctly in /etc/resolv.conf?

Oh, and 6.5 is deprecated, please make sure you yum update to 6.6 as soon as you get your network working.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
