Hi,
I have installed CentOS 6.5 (64 bit) on VMware workstation 12, on Windows 10 host machine.
I have manually setup IPv4 settings like IP address etc.
When trying to access CentOS from Windows via Putty, getting following error:-
Network error : Connection refused.
When i restart the CentOS service I am able to connect via putty, but after short duration of time the putty session disconnects and get following error message:-
Network error : connection reset by peer.
Then i need to restart CentOS network again.
Note : IPtables service is stopped and sshd service is running.
Can you please help me resolve this issue?
Is it CentOS issue or Windows 10 issue or VMware workstation 12 issue.
Thanks,
Swapnil
Putty ssh sessions not able to connect.
Re: Putty ssh sessions not able to connect.
Why? Why would you install a 3.5 year old copy of CentOS when you could have downloaded 6.8 to start with and installed that. 6.5 is old, out of date and needs updating so your first step is to update it to 6.8.I have installed CentOS 6.5 (64 bit) on VMware workstation 12, on Windows 10 host machine.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Putty ssh sessions not able to connect.
Hi TrevorH,
I tried it with CentOS 6.8 too same result.

I don't think CENTOS would just reset the peer. This could be certificates renewing.
