wlan/wifi/wireless/Broadcom not detected on CentOS6.8 guest(Oracle VM virtualbox)
Details:
Host: Windows 10(HP Pavilion laptop),Wifi running fine and working on Windows10
Wifi :Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter (with D-LINK router)
Guest: CentOS 6.8 64 bit minimal(on Oracle virtual box )-wifi not detected
I have tried lot of things from the internet with NO LUCK!
$iwconfig ( no wireless extensions)
$lspci(doesnt show Broadcom)
Tried these on Virtualbox with NO SUCCESS:
1.Settings: Network:Adapter2 : Intel*desktop(Bridged Adapter, Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter)-doesnt work
2.Settings: USB: USB device Filters:Broadcom Corp. BCM43142A0 Bluetooth device(err: Failed to atatch USB device;is busy with previous request 0
Kindly help ASAP!

If you're not dedicating the wireless card to your VM then it doesn't want to use a wireless connection at all - that part is all handled by the host. Just bridge the connection and assign a virtual wired adapter to your guest and it will just talk via the wireless connection on the host.
And yum update - 6.8 is out of date, 6.9 is current and has been for months.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
