wlan and eth installed but not working!

Post by Moose » 2011/07/20 18:12:54

Hi

first of all im no expert in linux.. anyway

I have succesfully installed drivers for both NIC but cant seem to configure them..
If i run ifconfig -a i have both a eth0 and a eth1 no wlan ??. And if i run system-config-network i cant see any NIC either ??.
Any suggestions would be helpfull.

Ps.

The "funny" thing is that i can make my ETH NIC work in rel 5.6 but still not my wlan but in 5.6 i cant configure my graphics adapter which i can in rel 6 :)

Best Regards

**edit**

As i said im no expert so please ask if more information is needed
Also i cant use the option "configure network" during install since the button is disabled , hence why i have to install/configure my NIC by hand

Welcome to the CentOS fora. A bit more reading is indicated. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature and provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh" and showing us the output file.

No need to post the "driver" output if you already did the full version - it is a strict subset.

Please see CentOS-6 FAQ #2. Why does my Ethernet not work unless I log in and explicitly enable it?

You are still running the original 6.0 kernel and there have been several updates, so the first thing I'd try is a "yum update" when you get networking going.

For the Broadcom Wifi see the ELRepo wl-kmod method.

The Ethernet driver appears to be correct for your hardware, but I don't know why you are seeing eth0 and eth1 unless one of them is the wireless.

Systems with dual-video often seem to be problematic. Can you disable either the Intel of the ATI hardware in the BIOS or otherwise?
