How to disable multicast on interface?

Dear all.

I need to disable multicast on the interface, so as to temporary disable it i use command ifconfig eth0 -multicast.

Could some one pls tell me how to disable permanently.

Permanently disabling multicast seems likely to break things, but I suppose you could append that command to /etc/rc.d/rc.local .
