[SOLVED] connecting cent to windows shares

hi guys,
i have a separate box dedicated to centos to try and learn more about this cool OS.
i have a windoze box i do all my downloading on etc, trying to connect the cent to a windows share to transfer files and the like. my windows box is on a domain, though the server isnt always on, my firewall is handling dhcp etc...not that i would think it matters...
ok so i go to places / connect to server
change service type to windows share
then theres a server box ...do i put the computer name? or ip address? is linux the same as windows? do i have to put \\ before the ip?
like \\192.168.1.35?
after that is folder and share....whats the difference? i just put the name of the folder i shared "centos" in this case, i have shared it with everyone.
then there is username and domain
should i connect using the domain account on the win 7 box, or leave out domain and use the local admin account?
anyhow it keeps coming up with error:
cannot display location smb- etc etc
whats the correct way to set this up
any help appreciated
