Server Security at minimum Setup?

Post by crushdev » 2011/09/27 22:43:55

I have a base install with a LAMP stack installed onto it. No other services running like FTP or email. I have the firewall setup, update it frequently and only one person has access through SSH. How secure is that server really? What things should I so in addition to those to keep a web server secure?

Have you looked at the CentOS wiki's Security section? In particular, the OS Protection article?

Yes, and thank you for your reply!

Can I generalize that, with proper implementation of the "how to" security setup on a CentOS 6 LAMP server, I should be left with a very secure OS/server that can be deployed in a production enviornment?
