When will CentOS 5.1 become available ?
Re: Centos 5.1 is out!!!!
Hi guys, Thanks for the patience, the release is now out of the door : CentOS-5.1 Release Announcement
Re: Centos 5.1 is out!!!!
I've just yum updated a CentOS 5.0 32-bit server and it has found the right pm-utils.

Maybe it was just missing on my local mirror?? The update wasn't showing on yum for me yet so I manually updated. I rebuilt my own pm-utils from RH updates SRPM and everything went fine...
Linux jessie 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5 #1 SMP Fri Nov 30 00:45:16 EST 2007 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
Great job, and thanks to everyone on the CentOS team :-D

Re: Centos 5.1 is out!!!!
centos-release-5-1.0.el5.centos.1.i386.rpm contains /etc/redhat-release which contains:
CentOS release 5 (Final)
I'd have expected
CentOS release 5.1 (Final)
CentOS release 5 (Final)
I'd have expected
CentOS release 5.1 (Final)

I have a dependency error trying to manually update using RPM:
# rpm -Fvh --test *.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
pm-utils >= 0.99.3-6 is needed by hal-0.5.8.1-25.el5_1.1.i386
# rpm -q pm-utils
pm-utils-0.19-3.el5.centos.1
I see the upstream provider released an update to pm-utils (0.99.3-6.EL5.17) on Oct 2nd but this never made it to CentOS and doesn't seem to be included in 5.1 either.
Did I miss something?
Sorry - my mistake. Of course the pm-utils package is in base, not updates

PRandal, expect a wiki page explaining the situation about that in the next couple of days. In the mean time, dont worry about it :D We have had to break tradition and not move this to 5.1 due to the upstream z-series issues. The 5.1 tree will be an opt in for people who *dont* want to keep moving through the various versions automatically. But, wait a few days, there will be a wiki page explaining the situation.

Re: Centos 5.1 is out!!!!
Alright! Downloading now and then some fairly exhaustive testing on my setup.
Thanks CentOS - I been kind of hungry for this release.

Re: When will CentOS 5.1 become available?
I would say it is doable in some cases but not in all cases. This mostly depends on what is installed on the system. For example, 4 to 5 upgrade is documented here:
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/MigrationGuide/ServerCD_4.4_to_5
It is highly discouraged but for those who determined to do it, it might be doable.
