When will CentOS 5.1 become available ?
Re: When will CentOS 5.1 become available? - Another update
Well ... according to hughesjr's authentic answer #5, this process takes 2-3 days. I believe it started yesterday, so you can make a wild guess...

Re: When will CentOS 5.1 become available? - Another update
Having been a CentOS user and a member of the community for - er - about six weeks I've got a question to ask, the answer of which might be quite obvious if I'd been around for a year or more.
Once the 5.1 updates are flowing from the mirrors can I assume that the kernel sources will also have been updated? Or will it be sometime later before they become available? (I would have thought and expect the former but - as long as I know - I can accept the latter. After all, everyone in the CentOS community is human . . . 60 * 60 * 24 seconds (approx) per day, for Earthlings.)

Kernel source files should be in the 5.1 tree and will be available at the release. The one in the os tree is kernel-2.6.18-53.el5.src.rpm and the latest kernel-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5.src.rpm is in the update directory.

Re: When will CentOS 5.1 become available?
By the way, this thread just became the most-viewed topic in the history of the CentOS forum.
http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewall.php?sortname=t.topic_views&since=100&sortorder=DESC
This shows the extent of people's interest or eagerness for 5.1. :-)

She canna take anymore captain ... she's gonna blow :-)
The centos network is pushing out the tree to the mirrors as fast as it can ... so I expect that we will release tomorrow (Monday 12/2) ... the is an outside chance that it might happen today (today as it relates to US time zone CST), but about 24 hours from now is a good bet if nothing unforeseen happens.

... And if CentOS can talk, she would have said to hughesjr:
Ever since you've been around

Centos 5.1 is out!!!!
Downloading the torrent now. Should be installing within the hour. :)
Re: Centos 5.1 is out!!!!
Well, it's up on my nearest Mirror, but the /mirrors/centos/5/ symlink has yet to be switched to point to 5.1.
I guess that happens when all the mirrors are synchronised.

Re: Centos 5.1 is out!!!!
I have a dependency error trying to manually update using RPM:
# rpm -Fvh --test *.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
pm-utils >= 0.99.3-6 is needed by hal-0.5.8.1-25.el5_1.1.i386
# rpm -q pm-utils
pm-utils-0.19-3.el5.centos.1
I see the upstream provider released an update to pm-utils (0.99.3-6.EL5.17) on Oct 2nd but this never made it to CentOS and doesn't seem to be included in 5.1 either.
Did I miss something?
