FATAL: Error running install command for binfmt_0000

Post by gigolos » 2014/03/12 20:41:49

Hi,

Firstly, I'm newbie and this is my first post on this forum. I'm not a Linux expert, but I'm doing my best to learn. I have installed CentOS 5.7 x86_64 on Hyper-V (Windows Server 2012 R2). After installation, I have installed LIS 3.4, configured network etc... CentOS was working perfectly until today... Really don't know what happened but when system boots, I receive :

modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for binfmt_0000

System admin told me that there were no changes in Hyper-V environment. Has anyone faced similar issue? What is the reason to have this fatal error? Is there anyway to fix this since I'm hosting applications on CentOS? Anyway to repair or something else to do? So again, everything was working normally until today...

Thanks in advance,
Regards,

Try booting an older kernel.
5.7 is old and insecure.
You should yum update to 5.10.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Thank you for reply and help. So just once more, is there any way to repair this VM with this problem or complete re-install is the only solution?

Did you try booting an older kernel as suggested earlier?

I didn't try. Forgot to say, I'm not really an Linux expert... If you mean from GRUB, I have tried selecting other options, but still without help. If you have several tips to give, I would appreciate it.

Thanks and regards,
