Which ISO do I need?

Post by squeak24 » 2014/04/13 18:55:11

I am in the process of trying to install CentOS onto an old laptop. I will be using PBX and Asterisk with it.

But the question is, I can see several ISO's but not sure which one I need. Can anyone advise. Is it DVD1? If so do I also require DVD2?

Any help is appreciated.

The fine release notes say
DVD #2 contains additional language packs for Open Office (OOo). On x86_64, packages java-1.6.0-openjdk-src, java-1.7.0-openjdk-src, kdelibs-apidocs and tetex-doc have also been moved to DVD #2. Installs not requiring these features should run using only DVD #1
DVD1 would be fine, or you can use minimal to install a minimal system and then install other packages with yum, or use netinstall to download the packages you want during initial installation. You will need a working network connection during install if you use the netinstall image. It's mostly a matter of taste.

I don't know specifically about Asterisk, but generally speaking you'd be better off with CentOS 6 rather than CentOS 5.
