Dear Forum,
I'm attempting to do a net install of 5.11 on an abandoned Dell Latitude E6400.
I was able to successfully install 6.6 but the application I wish to test doesn't work on that release.
So I'm trying 5.11. At some point during the net install, I get to a screen where it says something like "Loading SCSI driver" or "ahci driver" or some such. I take from the context that there is supposed to be some selection here - but all I see is a highlighted field of gibberish. After a while the installation proceeds without input from me.
But when I get to the point where I should be prompted to install on a disk, the installer can't "see" any disk to install on. That is to say, the familiar "Partitioning Type" screen in which I'm supposed to select drive(s) to install has an empty list.
So I'm kind of stuck. Any ideas on how to rectify this?
Thanks,
Russ
5.11 install doesn't see disk for installation
Re: 5.11 install doesn't see disk for installation
Boot 6.6 (maybe in rescue mode from the DVD) and run lspci -nn and post the output here.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
