Recover files and directories deleted by fsck command

Hi, how can I restore /var files that were deleted by fsck command?

Look in the lost+found directory on the same filesystem. You may find files there but they'll be named wrongly.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
Use the FAQ Luke

How can I copy them back to the right destination?
