Hi,

I follow the USB install guide on centos 5 on:
https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
section: CentOS-5

however when I boot the USB up it is hanging right after:
...
Booting processor 7/4 APIC 0x7
Initializing CPU#7
Calibrating delay using timer specific routine.. 7203.17 BogoMIPS (lpj=3601588)
CPU: L1 I cache: 32K L1 D cache: 32K
CPU: L2 cache: 256K
CPU: Physical Processor ID: 0
CPU: Processor Core ID: 3
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz stepping 09
Brought up 8 CPUs

Please advise on what is going wrong.

Thanks,
LWB

Why on earth are you installing CentOS 5 when it only has 9 days of life left? And if you *must* install it, use 5.11 - 5.8 is 5 years old and any hardware released since then will only confuse it. Poor thing, it's old and easily confused.

Use CentOS 7. It has until 2024 before it expires. Or use CentOS 6 - that is in production phase 2 now and goes to production phase 3 in May (critical security updates only).

I don't wish to install centOS 5 but the driver of the custom pci device that I have only can support older kernel so I really have no choice but to install CentOS 5 :(
