Totem closes after starting videos

Post by tasm » 2009/09/25 12:27:37

Hi,

after enabling compiz, I am unable to play videos in totem anymore. Totem immediately closes after starting playback and gives me the following error:
The program 'totem' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 49 error_code 11 request_code 140 minor_code 19)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Following that, I searched the bug-databse from redhat and found the following bug report that describes my problem:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=438361

With compiz disabled I am able to play all videos without problems. While searching this forum, I found a solution by "abednegoyulo" (https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=19434&forum=37&post_id=72726#forumpost72726) but this does not work for me. Is anybody else also facing this issue? Do you have some suggestions what to do next to fix this behaviour? Disabling compiz is not a "long-term-option" for me.

Kernel version:
2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Thu Sep 3 03:33:56 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Totem version:
2.16.7

compiz version:
compiz-0.0.13-0.37.20060817git.el5.centos.1

Thanks in advance for your help!
