Trouble installing phpmyadmin

Post by Deimos161 » 2014/06/05 00:24:09

Hi there,

Im currently trying to install phpmyadmin on Centos 5.3 x86 but whenever I run the command

Code: Select all

yum install phpMyAdmin
it returns with
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* base: mirrors.usc.edu
* extras: dist1.800hosting.com
* updates: centos.mirror.freedomvoice.com
Setting up Install Process
No package phpMyAdmin available.
Nothing to do
How do I fix this?

phpMyAdmin is not a CentOS program.
You can find it at epel.

http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories

Pay attention to the reference to yum-priorities.

Personally I would avoid rpmforge as it's been mostly unmaintained for at least a year so many of its packages are out of date. Use EPEL.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Yeah I do apologize, I posted this in the wrong section.
I was able to download phpmyadmin.
