C5 DVD media will not install on Intel DG965SS board

Post by hzshlomi » 2007/04/27 23:58:08

Well,
tried my best, but either the DVD or USB gave a too hard time...
can't be sure which of the devices bumped the install, as no information is provided when the driver fails to resolve.
ashame...
it loks like the AHCI was loaded OK..
what now?

Hey,
Got the machine running with c5, using ftp as install method (commenting from it now!... :-) .
That means: use the DVD just to boot, and then use a mirror to install.
Still - HW problems are not resolved:
1. display (adapter = GeForce 7300 GT / PCI express) resolution is set to 800*600, though adapter seems to be recognized..
2. USB : while booting, the following error message is displayed: "usb 3-1 device not accepting address 2"....
3. HD: SATA controller driver does not seem to care if I change bios from AHCI to IDE (this blows Vista sky high!..)
4. DVD: Optiarc something... standard IDE... undetected...

Well, that's for now... but yumex is wonderfull, and hey...
I Got two windows installations on seperate NTFS partitions and the centos on the third afterwards, and it works 64 bit...
that's something...

Any ideas regarding the HW anyone?
