Those seem to be mutually contradictory statements.

OK! In CentOS 6 Live DVD the camera didn't work with Skype-static 2.2. version, installed following this manual!

I installed Kopete in CentOS 5 but the camera doesn't work too neither in Skyper nor in Kopete. In Kopete I see only black screen and the LED indicator of the camera shows that the camera works.

Hey, guys! Where are you? Please help me. I tried a various of methods but nothing. The strange is I tried again System ---> Preferences ---> More Preferences ---> Multimedia Systems Selector and the video just worked with v4l plugin. But the problem with the skype remains. And now when I tried to test the video from skype options the skype just closes itself. When I start Skype from console when the program is crashed i see this:
$ skype
Segmentation fault
Any idea?

It seems the first thing to do is to fix the problem with Skype. If it is crashing it doesn't matter if the camera is working or not.

OK! Yesterday the cam with skype just worked. I reinstall packages like kmod-video4linux, dkms-x.x.x.x.x.el5.noarchI, I also installed and driver for my NVIDIA and I don't know what is happened but the camera just worked. Today I push my computer and find that the camera doesn't work again :( I am so confused! I tried to reinstall kmod-video4linux, dkms-x.x.x.x.x.el5.noarchI packages again but nothing. Everything I see when try to put my camera is
# gstreamer-properties

I think I resolved the problem. Just remove kmod-video4linux and dkms packages and install libv4l - restart and now the cam works.

Please let us know if you are confident the problem has been resolved, and where you got libv4l, so the issue can be marked appropriately.

Yes, you can mark the post as SOLVED. I install libv4l-0.4.2-1.i386.rpm from here!.

Ah - Farkas Levente is a well-known name around the EL community, but that repo is not among those on the CentOS Repositories page.

Thanks for reporting back. Marking this thread [SOLVED] for posterity.
