Back up your data from it and restore it to a supported system.

CentOS 5 is End Of Life as of March 31st 2017. The copy you are running there is CetnSO 5.2 from 2008 and has been unsupported since the release of 5.3 in early 2009. The latest and last CentOS 5 is 5.11, released just over 3 years ago. There will be no more patches for CentOS 5 and it is now dangerous to run as it will become more and more insecure as time goes by. The copy you have there at 5.2 is already horrendously dangerous and should not be run.

It's a VM, you can attach the disk to another VM and access it that way. By the looks of it, the filesystem was set up on a newer version of CentOS anyway.
