named not starting

Good day,

Can anybody perhaps help me with this.

When starting named I get an error:
Following is the cut and past from the server with the error message

[root@ns1 ~]# service named start
Locating /var/named/chroot//etc/named.conf failed:
[FAILED]


I am not sure where it is looking for Locating /var/named/chroot//etc/named.conf

It's looking where it says it is and the file is not there.

Which brings up the question: why do you think you need to run named?
