i have been using centos 5 version since 5 years but from few days i m facing a strange problem,, if any one have idea about it or have faced before , i wil be very thankful
I have 2 nic's in in IBM server , os installed Centos 5.5
one nice having ip of local series 192.168.xxx.xx
another nic used for ssh static series 188.34.xxx.xxx
my local users use local series ip for connection with samba share on to the server whereas i used static ip from outside in some maintenance case,, everything was working fine since 2 years. two days before i remove server for clean the place and also remove both the network wires but after installation of system again i m facing problem in connection with local ip with samba share from windows xp or windows 7 machine sometime.. I can ping the server with local and static ip perfectly without any packet loss. I can find there is no network error in the cables and connection but sometime i cannot connect samba share from the windows machine. But i can access the samba share from static ip in my office without any problem
if i restart network services my local samba share will be start again but later on after 10 or 15 minutes the local connection got down.
Any idea???

Re: samba share access problem
Moved your topic to the CentOS 5 Networking forum since it appears that's what you are using.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: samba share access problem
You have 3 nics and are running an old unsupported version of CentOS.
You need to run 'yum update' to update to 5.10.
Make sure you did not swap cables when moving the box.
