Downgrade from centos 5 to centos 4

Post by MeteoriK » 2007/05/03 17:46:33

Hiya,

I installed centos 5, only to find I need centos 4, and I really don't feel like getting a train all the way to the datacentre with a DVD just to fix it!

Is there an easy way to downgrade centos 5 to centos 4?

eg. delete the rpm database, change the repos files, and do a manual update ?

Downgrade from centos 5 to centos 4

I think that 5.0 -> 4.4 is even less likely to be successful than 4.4 -> 5.0, which has certainly proven to be less than a sure thing.

I think you are looking at a backup/wipe/reinstall, sir.

I agree that you can't downgrade from centos 5 to 4. The kernel even doesn't match
