hi..iam working on a file server (samba server) which is on centos 5.4.client pc is window xp and 7
both...My document of windows7/xp are mapped with linux server.so data they save in my document is getting saved in home of user's in linux server or in shared directory of user in linux.

by changing the location in side property of My document.....Both user has same name and password in both server as well as their own pc..

so only authorized user can only access the share of linux.other use cannot..And Sync is Enable.

Now the is problem occurred with in few days...in windows 7 user's pc what ever data they saved in Mydocument,

if now we update the any doc or excel file,file in linux server is not getting save properly.in place of update file a 2SD51DF.tmp file is created in server.and in Mydocument it is updated...

some times sync show disconnected.but when connected it get sync but with error of conflict........

Iam not getting sync file..what is the solution....plz help me

If you really mean the seriously obsolete CentOS-5.4 then I don't understand how Samba is working for Windows 7 at all. My understanding it that it requires samba3x which did not appear until CentOS-5.5. Have you checked the Samba logs and /var/log/messages for clues?

Please update to the current release CentOS-5.7. If the problem persists then please provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh basic" and showing us the output file, as well as
rpm -qa samba\*
In order to replace samba with samba3x you must first remove the original packages. I'd be prone to first do the update and test. If still having issues then install samba3x. As far as permission problems, in order for us to offer any well-informed advice you need to provide details of how permissions are defined for the directories/files and in the Samba configuration.

thanks again..

ok now finally i will update os..
and about file permission..scenario are as follows-

finance dept
1. upper level person has all permission on samba shared dir/file of all level person...
2. middle level can only access upper level shared..and have full writes over lover level..
3. lower level can share among all but doesnot have permission to access..it...

and all 3 level are in group.......

one more scenario..

besides of finance dept their are more dept....
so one dept cannot have permisasion to access other dept shared nor can see....means one deept cannot see other dept shared..in sharing...

can u give me this all permission..detail

We need to see your /etc/samba/smb.conf share definitions and the directory and file permissions as shown by
ls -lsFZd /path/to/dir
ls -lsFZ /path/to/dir
for the directories in question. Please also, after upgrading, provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh basic" and showing us the output file. It might also be useful to see
rpm -qa samba\*
path = /home/user1/ //home dir of user 1..default name.
writable = yes
valid user = user1
veto file = /*.msi/*.exe/*.mp3/*.bat/*.com/*.dll/*.lnk/*.asd/*.shb/*.vb/*.wsf/*.wsh/*.pif/*.scr/*.chm/*.hta/*.shs/*.vbs/*.vbe/*.js/*.jse/*.wmv/*.3gp/*.avi/*.mp4/*.ini/*RECYCLER*/

[user2]
path = /home/user2
wirtable = yes
valid user = user2 user1 user3.. // who can access this shared dir.
veto file = /*.msi/*.exe/*.mp3/*.bat/*.com/*.dll/*.lnk/*.asd/*.shb/*.vb/*.wsf/*.wsh/*.pif/*.scr/*.chm/*.hta/*.shs/*.vbs/*.vbe/*.js/*.jse/*.wmv/*.3gp/*.avi/*.mp4/*.ini/*RECYCLER*/

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package.
