Syslog and console

Hi there. I would like to set up syslog deamon, to log something to console. This is from my syslog.conf :

*.kern;authpriv.* /dev/tty1

I would like log up from kern and authpriv to conole. But that is not working. If I try log in from 192.168.1.106 to 192.168.1.105 : "ssh 192.168.1.105" and than put wrong password,
so I get message to /var/log/security but I see nothing on console tty1. Would you tell me why??? Thank you.
