SSH without Password - FAIL

Post by JoseKreif » 2015/07/31 15:16:36

So I've been at this for hours and doing all the web searching and researching I can, I just cannot get a fix.

I've tried DSA, RSA, and Identity, all fail.

The authorized_key and the .ssh directory have the correct permissions
chmod 700 ~/.ssh
chmod 600 ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
_______
Viewing manually, the id_rsa.pub is the exact same as whats in "authorized_keys"

here is my ssh -vvv name@serv

Code: Select all

joseph@Devel ->ssh -vvvv joseph@corp

Look in /var/log/secure on the server that you are connecting to for errors. My first step would be to run restorecon -r ~/ssh on the server to make sure that the selinux contexts on the directory and its files are correct. The log will show you errors to do with normal unix permissions if there are any.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Also make sure the user's home directory on both machines have no group or other write permissions.

Check /var/log/secure to see what happened with your ssh connection.

I think there is something wrong with /home/joseph/.ssh/id_rsa
I'm guessing that you have a PEM format certificate in there not an SSH key.
