Internal Server Error when htaccess enabled

Post by 2handband » 2009/11/20 12:17:35

I'm new to setting up web servers and have been following the instructions presented in The Definitive Guide to CentOS. After configuring htaccess as per instructions I'm getting 500 Internal Server Error.

Here is my /var/www/html/.htaccess:
<Files .htaccess>
order allow,deny
deny from all
</Files>
<Files .htpasswd>
order allow,deny
deny from all
</Files>
AuthUserFile /etc/httpd/htpasswd
AuthName "Secret Secure Area"S
AuthType Basic
require vaild-user
Can anyone help?

Okay, I just looked at my post and noticed that I misspelled valid. I fixed that, and I still get the error.

I'm going to give this one a bump... can anyone tell me how to get htaccess configured?
