PHP recompile for Freetype Fonts

Post by Wolfman_TWP » 2010/10/19 12:57:38

How would I go about recompiling PHP to add Freetype support??

The default install doesn't have this support. I've read heaps of web stuff on the subject, but it seems not to work as described.

When I try to recompile the src.rpm, I get errors stating that the function is not supported or not found. If I recompile from source, I get errors about Mysql etc..

I'd prefer to stick to RPMs if at all possible..

The reason for this is that, I've setup a Centos 5.5 Server, running Apache, Mysql and Joomla. But, one of the Joomla plugins we need, requires the Freetype support in PHP.

If you need any more info, ask away... :-D

Cheers,
Wolf

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Reading list recommended for new users:

Please particularly note the forum guidelines with regard to bumping a thread, and provide some additional information if you do bump after a decent interval.

If you have sorted it out, it would be good to say how for the benefit of future forum searchers who may have a similar problem. Recompiling should not be necessary in any case.

Hi, I also facing the same issue.
OS: CentOS 5.8 x86_64
php: 5.2.17
Previously what I did is
$ ./configure –with-apxs2 –with-mysql –with-zlib-dir –with-libdir=lib64
$make
$make install

PHP installed successfuly, I can view at phpinfo();

However, I would like to add freetype extension in my php.
What I did is as below

$ yum install freetype-devel.x86_64
$ ./configuration --with-freetype-dir=/usr
$ make clean
$ make
$ make install

I go to /usr/local/lib/php.ini, remove the semicolon for the extensin.

I restart my apache httpd server. I went to phpinfo(), still no changes. What should I do to make the changes?

Please help.

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.

After reading those links you should realize why you should not hijack threads as you have done. Please start a new Topic for your issue to get the attention you need, providing a link to this one if required for context. Very few people will even find your question buried in a stale thread.
