tomcat and https

Post by axet » 2011/01/21 10:26:57

Hello!

I'm trying to configure tomcat with centos 55 and have no success.

I tried to run java 1.4 + tomcat5 + tomcat-native (fedora epel) - failed to start spring.
I tried to run java 1.6 + tomcat5 + tomcat-native (fedora epel) - failed to https.

I tried to find tomcat6 for cent os 55- and don't know where to get right repo.

I suppose tomcat6 can fix all my problems, but with unknown reason tomcat6 still not part of cent55 repo (why?).

After i tired to install tomcat-native tomcat5 stop to respod to https requests, and only respond to http respond on port 8443. I dont know how to fix that.

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Reading FAQ & Readme First is recommended for new users.

It is not clear from your post exactly what you have tried, nor what packages you used from 3rd party repos in the process. Why not first try just the CentOS native packages before adding in 3rd party stuff?

Thanks. I don't see native-lib support in default centos repo.

I need it for arp support (https vs openssl).

i think that better way is build your own tomcat from source :)

if that is the best way, i need to drop centos from my vps.

who really want to take care about packages / critical patches by him self.

i prefer delegate this job to community mantainers. seems like fedora or debian is my choise.

Wise choice. I heartily disagree with the recommendation to do a source install. If you need a later version your best bet may be to wait for the upcoming CentOS 6. If you want something to test in the interim, I'd recommend playing with the Scientific Linux 6rolling release, now at Beta-1.
