difference in available and installed memory in x86_64

Post by d41_ » 2008/05/13 15:11:21

hello,
I use centos 5.1 on dual xeon workstation with 6GB (2+2+1+1) of ram installed. The only problem is that I have 4GB available. Memory modules tested on other computers and works fine.

dmesg info look like
Memory: 4017376k/6291456k available (2434k kernel code, 166808k reserved, 1235k data, 192k init)

Is it posible to make os use all memory?
additional info: clean centos 5.1 x86_64 installation without GUI + prman

Sorry,
it seems like ther's mem incompatibility in my macpro, because when i use only 2GB modules it works well and when i use only 1GB modules. but problems appear when i use both types in one box.
