Trying to fo a cifs.mount or "mount -t cifs" does not work

Postby gessi » 2009/11/02 16:33:16

Hi there,

as I am not a centOS Guru I got stuck with trying to mount a NAS Share via mount.cifs on my CentOS 4 machine.

I figured out there's no yum or rpm installed but only dpkg...

Anyway it seems that smbclient is installed (smbclient -L works fine)!? Whyever I can't mount via cifs.mount:

# dmesg | tail
[886610.129956] Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
[886610.129956] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
[886610.260023] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
[886619.049404] Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
[886619.049404] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
[886619.193185] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
[886619.197181] Status code returned 0xc000006d NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
[886619.197181] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
[886619.327164] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13
[888071.906129] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22

My command I was using:
# mount -t cifs -o username='domain\user',password='mypw' //CIFSserver/share /mnt/test/

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //CIFSserver/share,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
(for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might
need a /sbin/mount. helper program)
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

# mount.cifs
-bash: mount.cifs: command not found

Can someone help me out!? Do I need to install any package?

There's no yum AND no rpm command availiable at all on this machine.... arghh

CentOS will always have rpm and yum.
Sounds like you are running a VPS that is not really CentOS.
If this is the case, you probably cannot load modules.
Take this up with your provider.

Please follow the instructions in this Wiki article:

http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/WindowsShares

For now, use of credential files should be deferred. There is a bug in the latest version of samba. The bug is being tracked here:

http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=3960

Try running "/usr/bin/yum" and "/bin/rpm" just to make sure you don't have a PATH problem.

You can also "cat /etc/redhat-release"

How about "apt-get update; apt-get install yum rpm" or is it only dpkg?

How can I make sure/recheck???

The output returned by the following command lines are good indicators --

Code: Select all

rpm -q centos-release
rpm -qa kernel\* | sort

Upps... seems to be Debian!? Confused...

The programs included with the Debian GNU/Linux system are free software;
the exact distribution terms for each program are described in the
individual files in /usr/share/doc/*/copyright.

Debian GNU/Linux comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, to the extent
permitted by applicable law.

It's certainly not a CentOS server.

You'll obviously have more success in posting your question to a Debian forum.

Re: Trying to fo a cifs.mount or "mount -t cifs" does not work

Postby roncento » 2013/04/01 05:34:12

I have the same issue generating very nasty message:

mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs

I have been using < mount -t cifs //servername/windows-share-path /tmp/test001 -o 'username=user01,domain=mydomain,uid=user01,gid=developer'
Immediately I get the following:

Password:
mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

Also, in /var/log/messages states this:

kernel: Status code returned 0xc0000022 NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
kernel: CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13
kernel: CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13

Appreciate any input on this issue.
