yum update errors

Hello all, i am trying to install an ftp and in the process of the yum i am getting errors. the machine currently hosts an internal website and i can access it with no problem but for some reason i cannot get the yum update to work. please help. here is the message i am getting.

[root@gwbwtest etc]# yum update
Setting up Update Process
Setting up repositories
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/updat ... repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError:
Trying other mirror.
Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: update
failure: repodata/repomd.xml from update: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
Error: failure: repodata/repomd.xml from update: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

i did change the ip address and move the server if that makes a difference.

It looks like you do not have internet access(dns issue also possible) from that box.

You can verify with:

wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4/updates/i386/repodata/repomd.xml

that is what i thought as well but i can do a wget from a website and all works good.

Are you behind a proxy? If so, try a Wiki search on yum proxy for potential solutions.
