Dell Poweredge 2550 / Centos4

Post by t1an » 2005/03/31 16:39:13

Here's my hardware config:

Dual 1.266ghz P3 processors
2gb ram
Dell PERC 3/DI (raid5)

I'm currently getting a

"unsupported version 0 of verneed" when it loads the anaconda after skipping the 'media test'.

I've tried lowering the ram and disabling a lot of the integrated devices. so far, no go.
One possibility is that my raid is still scrubbing ... which I won't be able to attempt to reinstall again
till tonight.

It's weird because I got centos3.3 to install on another one of these machines without a hitch.

Looks like the problem turned out to be either my CD media or the original ISO I downloaded.

As, this resolved when I redownloaded ISO1 and burned my media at 12x (rated at 16x but nero burned it at 24x first time around).

I'm not bothering to go back and see which variable it was (iso or the media). The weird thing is that Nero
reported no problems and neither did the media check during the install.

Plus, discs 2-4 burned at 24x on the same media read fine during the rest of the install.

Go figure ...
