IBM x330 adaptec AIC7892 fatal error

I have 2 x330s with built in SCSI adapters. Redhat 7.3 runs fine on both machines. However, when I load Centos 4 and reboot when it loads the AIC7XXX module I get a fatal error and kernel panic. Any ideas? Seems to be a bug in the Adaptec kernel module. I have a bunch of these servers I want to load Centos on. Any advice would be appreciated.

I had exactly the same problem on an HP Proliant machine ...
I had to update the Bios of my server and of my Adaptec scsi card .
After that, no problem at all ...
