I folks.

I'm wanting to install a DVD drive on my CentOS 4.8 running EPIA 5000 board, hence the need to IDE and not SATA. This will not be viewing but rather for backups using mondoarchive

Are drivers available somewhere or are they native? I haven't been able to find anything so far

Welcome to CentOS.
New members need to read:

Did you install the drive?
What exact problem are you having?
Does it appear in dmesg?

Sorry about that!

I am running an older EPIA 5000 motherboard that only has an IDE interface and no SATA.

I have not yet installed a DVD drive and am investigating what I need to purchase in order to use one. This is why I was asking about support. As I don't currently have a DVD drive for it, I wanted to know if there was support that is either CentOS native or via an "aftermarket" driver.

So at this point, demesg isn't of much help :-D

Current CD/DVD drives should be supported.

It's been a long time since I had any CentOS 4 systems but at one point I had it installed on a number of Dell SC1425 servers and they all had IDE DVD-ROM drives installed and they were seen without any problems.
