How ro turn a wireless encryption switch on?? :-)

Post by russell23 » 2008/01/30 14:13:07

Dear CentOS users,

I am using a operating my laptop in a wireless network. When I look at my wireless network connection status, using iwconfig, I am getting the following,

###############################################################################

[root@electron ~]# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"Scholars Inn 12th"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.447 GHz Access Point: 00:1C:10:E2:69:A4
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
Retry limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality=56/100 Signal level=-67 dBm Noise level=-84 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:51 Missed beacon:8

sit0 no wireless extensions.

###############################################################################

It is saying that my encryption key is "off". Could anyone tell me how to turn my encryption key "on". It would be very great if someone could explain me how this encryption key works?

Many thanks in advance.
