Make new Apache and Dovecot SSL certificates, HOWTO ?

Post by pedro » 2005/03/19 15:30:50

Hi all!

Using CentOS 4.0 Final, SSL certificates for Dovecot and Apache are set to localhost and other default info. How can I make new SSL certificates for this services? Can I use the same procedure to create SSL certificates for Apache's Virtual Hosts ?

Thankx in advance,

Pedro

Yes you can ....
Just follow this little howto : http://www.cacert.org/help.php?id=4
You can also use CaCert to as a free CA (CentOS uses this CA ...).
I've also configured Apache and Dovecot with signed certificates from Cacert and everything works .
For dovecot, you just have to copy your private key/certificate in /usr/share/ssl (as stated in /etc/dovecot.conf)
Don't forget also that for Apache Virtual Hosts, if you have several virtual hosts with different domain names, you'll have to have a different IP address for each SSL Virtual Host !
Hope this helps
