Postby samir_12 » 2011/06/16 10:13:43

Hello there
i'm new to linux , i was trying to set up a mail server Centos 5.3 following the 2 guides
after installing and configuring spamassassin

and was told to test postfix to see if postfix is ready for SMTP-AUTH And TLS by running
telnet localhost 25

i get this :
[root@mailserver ~]# telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.

no respond even if i typed : ehlo localhost

this is my net stat

[root@mailserver ~]# netstat -l | grep tcp
tcp 0 0 *:imaps *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:pop3s *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:10024 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:10025 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:mysql *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:pop3 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 localhost.local:dyna-access *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:782 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:imap *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:sunrpc *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:x11 *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:http *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:ftp *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 mailserver.airworldt:domain *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomai:domain *:* LISTEN

tcp 0 0 localhost.localdomain:ipp *:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 *:smtp *:* LISTEN

You should immediately update to the current release 5.6. 5.3 is seriously obsolete and has numerous known bugs and security issues that have been fixed in subsequent updates. Obsolete releases are not supported, nor is it advisable to be running them. See the CentOS 5.6 Release Notes Section 4 for details on the recommended update procedure.

following the 2 guides
after installing and configuring spamassassin

What guides would those be? If more help is needed after updating please provide the information suggested in the recommend reading, along with additional background information and error messages.
