security updates?

Post by bencollver » 2006/10/29 19:21:54

The security response team page states that security updates will be listed in the errata, the news ticker, and the centos security announcement mailing list. The 4.4 errata page is empty, and I could not find the news ticker nor the security announcement mailing list.

As an example, I see RHSA-2006-0689 contains kernel security fixes. So far as I can tell, my kernel still has these problems, but "yum checkupdate" does not report any new updates. The CentOS FAQ states a goal of having updates available within 72 hours, but the above fix was released almost a month ago.

Is there a definitive list of released CentOS 4.4 security updates?

Thank you,

Ben

security updates?

The update you site above was released by RH on 5th October, and appeared in CentOS updates on the 6th October, at least for i386 arch (within 24 hours).

Most security updates appear on the centos-announce mailing list:

http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-announce

The errata pages here seems to not be maintained. I suspect developers feel their time is better spent actually getting the updates out to users than regurgitating Red Hat advisories.

Updates for the current release 4 can be found here:

Thank you for the information, it is good to know where to look. That is great response time.
It turns out that I forgot to reboot after the update, which is why I was running the old kernel.
