Hi everyone. Is there an estimate when CentOS will have x86_64 and ppc64 builds for CentOS 4?

I'm using the rc1 and it works great, haven't had any problems. I was using rc1 on an i386 and just yum'd to the Final and that is what I plan on doing with the x86_64 box.

Just an FYI..

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but in the RC1 are still debug options compiled into that you can't get rid of with just "yum upgrade".

CentOS-4 x86_64 (rc1) is a clean build, with all debug code stripped out - there is no reason why you would not be able to yum upgrade the system ( note, yum upgrade is not the same as yum update )

on the main topic, we should have x86_64, ready for release in the next few hours, it should be released in the next few days.

There are no plans to have a ppc64 port. there is a ppc32 port underway and in beta2, Release grade code for ppc32 is not expected till the end of March. We dont have ppc64 hardware available to us ( the developers on CentOS-4 ), if you have access to such machines , please feel free to join the effort or to make this equipment available to us.

Hope this info helps.

I'd be happy to provide access to some IBM JS20 blades. We currently trying to use SuSE, and it barks. Just tell the appropriate person (Karanabir Singh, I'm guessing) to send me an email.
