Can't print with EPSON epl-6100

Post by EmilioFederici » 2006/08/09 09:44:46

Hi all, I'm writing here because I have a problem with my EPSON epl-6100 laser printer under x86_64. I've owned this printer for quite a long time and I have used it successfully in Linux (Fedora, Ubuntu...). Now in Centos4 the printer is dead: it has a led that shows when it receives data and it doesn't even flash once.
This is the log after trying to print the CUPS test page :

[09/Aug/2006:11:43:13 +0200] Adding start banner page "none" to job 25.
I [09/Aug/2006:11:43:13 +0200] Adding end banner page "none" to job 25.
I [09/Aug/2006:11:43:13 +0200] Job 25 queued on 'epl6100' by 'root'.
I [09/Aug/2006:11:43:13 +0200] Started filter /usr/lib64/cups/filter/pstops (PID 4341) for job 25.
I [09/Aug/2006:11:43:13 +0200] Started filter /usr/lib64/cups/filter/foomatic-rip (PID 4342) for job 25.
I [09/Aug/2006:11:43:13 +0200] Started backend /usr/lib64/cups/backend/usb (PID 4343) for job 25.
E [09/Aug/2006:11:43:13 +0200] PID 4342 stopped with status 3!

The printing service is ok (my other printer, a Stylus Photo, prints flawlessly) I guess the problem could be in ghostscript that doesn't list the "epl6100" among the available devices; so i downloaded the gs sources and the "eplaser" driver from Advansys; I've applied the patch manually (patch wasn't working) but compilation fails with:

make: *** No rule to make target `obj/alc1900.dev', needed by `obj/ld.tr'. Stop

Looking forward for your help.
