Postby xiutuo » 2007/12/17 06:51:50

my system:

centos 4.5_x86_64
oracle10g

shutdown oracle

use system comm:

[root@db02 ~]# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 7970 7950 20 0 58 7184
-/+ buffers/cache: 707 7262
Swap: 8191 61 8130

cached used 7g, and the system halt with no signal.

is this normol?

but centos4.5_x86_32
there no this problem,

is it a bug for centos 4.5_x86_64?

Unlike many other Unix deriviatives, Linux is much more dynamic about cache alocation. Generally, if there is unused memory it will be used as cache. So, the answer is "Yes" this sounds normal.

and then there is another problem:
how do I know the free memory exactly.I must allocat memory to oracle10g :sga_max_size

I am so tied to try so many times to the value of this parameter...

if any wrong with this parameter I cann't start oracle, then I must to use a pfile ,

thanks,,is there a solution?

you can look in proc dir for that

Code: Select all

cat /proc/meminfo
