CRC error on install

Post by mikef » 2007/02/12 01:31:16

I have downloaded the iso images for 4.4 and burned them to disks.
I recieve a crc error when trying to install the OS.
All 4 disks fail the media test but the files pass the md5sum check.
I have tried another CD drive also. Is this a known issue that I cannot find documented or should I just try different media?

Thanks in Advance,
Mike

Please use md5sum on the cd iso's to verify that what you downloaded is good. It realy looks like you got some bad downloads...

CRC error on install

First: it is typical for the media test to fail unless you do; linux mediacheck ide=nodma

Second: crc errors might be an indication of memory problems (bad memory) run the memtest86 option from the installation menu.

Thanks for the responses.
I can find no way to run md5sum against the files now on the disks but I do believe the downloads are OK.
I will disable dma for the media tests to verify that the media is good.

I will also troubleshoot for memory problems and let you know how I make out.

Thanks again,
Mike
