PROBLEMS INSTALLING NTFS-G3. HELP

Post by pablovasquez » 2007/05/07 16:46:51

Hi.

I don't speak very much english, so please try to understand what I'm going to say.
I have troubles to mount my ntfs partitions. Somebody told me that I have to isntall ntfs-g3 package, but when I do it, the system says that I need some other packages (mostly glibc). When I download these packages they say that they need other packages, and other packages, and when a lot of hours passed, I feel really really tired.
¿Is there any chance to install all the packages from once?
¿Is ther any other chance to access to my ntfs partitions? (I just tried with mount/dev/hda1 /mnt/winxp)
¿What can I really do?
If I change to Centos 5, ¿WILL THIS PROBLEM DESSAPEAR?
Please help me, and excuse my english.

Do you need read only access ? --> use plus kernel

Suggested package is needed for read/write, but it may corrupt your ntfs drive (still experimental)

You really need to learn how to use yum. If you keep installing packages like that manually, you may end up with a messy system. Learn also about available repositories.

http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories

For example, if you enable the rpmforge repo, you can easily install ntfs-g3 by running:

yum install ntfs-g3

It will take care of dependencies for you.
