The friendly download page at https://www.centos.org/download/ really needs a link to the md5 checksums for the ISOs.
I eventually found the checksums on one of the mirror sites (such as here), but surprisingly not on centos.org. Because I wasn't originally using a mirror site, at least not directly, this was rather indirect.
Need checksum files for ISOs
Re: Need checksum files for ISOs
Actually they're on all the mirrors and none of the isos are downloadable directly from .centos.org sites at all (they're just too big and take up too much bandwidth so they're only available from the mirrors). However, having the various checksum files available directly on the download link page that you provided sounds like a good idea to me.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
