Limit yum to CentOS 1511

Postby hunter86_bg » 2017/01/11 19:30:43

Hello Community,

I was wondering which is the best method to limit yum,so no packages from 1611 are installed on update. This setup is for training purposes, and no live services will be deployed.

I was thinking to replace releasever in the repo files with "7.2.1511".Will this do the trick?

Thanks in advance.

I think, if you will not update centos-release pakages, OS will not update to 16.11 release.

Why would you not want to update?

Excluding the centos-release package is just cosmetic - it will stay saying 7.2 in /etc/centos-release but will otherwise be 7.3.

RHCE Exam is based on "7.2". In order to get as close to the exam environment I need to install 1511 packages only. As you know in 1611 RedHat implemented some minor changes, which I want to avoid for now. I think the best solution will be to limit the repo to a local mirror and pointing to 7.2 folder.
