Error messages appeare on booting

Post by kenn » 2017/12/18 19:14:07

Hi.
I have a trouble on booting CentOS7.

I installed CentOS7 1708 x86_64
in 64bit UEFI system.

Then every booting the system,
following error messages are appeared.

Code: Select all

error: failuer reading sector 0xfc from -hd2'
error: failuer reading sector 0xe0 from -hd2'
error: failuer reading sector 0x0 from -hd2'

Press any key to continue...
After wait for a while, this messages are disappeared
and CentOS boot normally.
In addition, Strangely if optical disc is inserted in
Optical Drive, this messages are not appeared.
I have two HDD and one Optical Drive,
so I guess -hd2 means Optical Drive.
I think this is a matter of grub2,
but I don't know how to fix this.

This may not be a critical problem.
But I concern about this matter a little.

Please help me.
Thank you!

I'd check for a BIOS update. Last time I saw anything that like it was a BIOS bug that was reporting an optical drive as a hard disk by mistake.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

I'm very sorry for delaying for reply.

Conclusion, BIOS update was no gain.

More worse, after update
display flicks before boot menu appears.

Any idea?

Thank you.

Does it really say "failuer" in the error messages?

This looks like Grub Issues with empty Optical Drive and Bug#1299248
What is the version of grub ?
