xinetd & vnc

Post by brentl99 » 2014/10/26 18:32:14

Through CentOS 6.5 there was a well worn configuration for providing remote VNC access to a gdm login and desktop through an xinetd configuration. This configuration is superior in many ways to the much documented vnc-server configuration.

The xinetd config includes configuration for /etc/xinetd.d/vnc, /etc/hosts.allow, /etc/gdm/custom.conf. In particular CentOS 7 doesn't appear to have a "greeter" available in /etc/gdm/custom.conf. That greeter used to be setup as follows:
[daemon]
RemoteGreeter=/usr/libexec/gdm-simple-greeter

However, CentOS 7 doesn't ship with gdm-simple-greeter.

Has anyone figured out the CentOS 7 xinet/vnc configuration that I'm describing?
